4x16 or 2x32 DDR5 memory for gaming and video editing
Seeking some advice. I'm planning to boost my PC's RAM from Corsair Vengance DDR5-6000 CL40 32GB to 64GB. I've heard mixed things about DDR5 performance at full speed with four sticks, so I'm weighing the cost of adding more modules versus upgrading now. Additionally, a quick question: should I adjust the timings for video editing and rendering after replacing the RAM? Thanks!
Mostly because CL30 kits are nearly identical in price to CL36 or CL40 kits. Right. Running 4x16GB can work at reasonable speeds, though it’s tricky to get stable. Ideally you’d want to steer clear of it if possible. Also, the 6000 CL40 speed range is one of three memory IC options, meaning a second kit is likely to be another type, increasing the chance of problems.
