So I have an old 4-pin fan that I want to fit into my case to help dissipate heat from my GPU. My motherboard only has 3 pin connectors next to the CPU fan header. I’m wondering if I can connect this 4-pin fan to a 3-pin header, since I think the fourth pin is used for speed control and without it the fan will run at full speed.

yes .. or perhaps not, if your fan operates at maximum speed

try to change the last two pins of your FAN connector (PWM3th pin with sense 4 pin) so you can adjust the fan speed afterward>D
