I own a custom-built PC with the following components: motherboard Gigabyte 797X-UD5H, CPU Intel i5-4670 3.4 GHZ, and graphics card NVIDIA Geforce 1080 Superclocked 8gb. I can reach maximum settings at 1920x1080 but experience minimum quality in 4k. I'm wondering about the best approach to achieve maximum 4k performance—whether upgrading the CPU, setting up an SLI graphics card, or troubleshooting and possibly overclocking the graphics card. For instance, during gameplay of Assassins Creed Syndicate, I have enough RAM but any settings above 3000-4000 GB will cause performance drops below 60 FPS.

MSI afterburner might assist in boosting your GPU's performance, but if it's already factory overclocked, the gains will likely be minimal. You can try overclocking your CPU if you haven't done so yet, though it may become a limiting factor for the rest of your system no matter how high you push it. If you're planning to invest, upgrading your CPU would be more beneficial, and adding another GPU would also be helpful.
