Hey guys, this is my first attempt at overclocking and it seems to be working... but maybe more than I thought.
Recently, on my i7-4790k I reached 4.9 GHz at 1.3v; I can push up to 5.0 GHz if I really wanted to, since the temperature is only around 72-76 degrees Celsius. The CPU is installed under a Corsair H100i v2 (the newer model with 120mm fans).
I checked stability using Aida64 and Intel Burn Test. I didn’t run Prime95 heavily because some people warn against it for Haswell CPUs, but I did test it out and temperatures climbed to 95-100 degrees Celsius, which really threw me.
I also ran Geekbench and Cinebench to confirm the performance was improving.
My main question is: Is 4.9 GHz on an i7-4790k a normal result?

Every chip differs and it seems you have the better one.

The particular version and specific test on Prime95 are acceptable—Prime95 v26.6 and a small FFT test work well. Other versions and additional tests will cause your temperatures to rise significantly. IBT remains a reliable option as well, being straightforward and safe.
