You already possess 32 gigabytes of RAM but need additional space for a virtual disk in Cinema 4D or video editing. Your system currently uses 8 out of 12 slots. Would it be feasible to purchase four 4-gigabyte modules and combine them into a total of 48 gigabytes? It appears you're considering a standard server Hynix DDR3 memory with no buffering.

Yes but you most likely won't be able to run at the advertised speeds out of the box or use XMP as you are mixing kits. Memory is screened and validated to work together as a kit but introducing another kit means potential instability. You'll manually have to enter timings and stress test to find the speeds/timings you can run at. Otherwise it'll run at it's base speed and timings or there's always the chance it works fine.

I prefer not to use a RAM drive; instead, opt for SSDs for storage and allow Windows to handle caching disks. Could you share your complete system specifications?

2x Xeon e5-2690 processors with eight cores each (total 16 cores) paired with two 2TB HDDs, each offering roughly 260/210 Mbps throughput on CrystalDiskMark 1TB Hynix Gold S31 SSD, around 600 Mbps read/write, and a 32GB DDR3 8-channel memory module.

Skip the ram disk, allow the operating system and applications to handle caching in RAM. They usually perform better than a ram disk. Likely just add more RAM if possible, since DDR3 dimensions are affordable, so getting around 128GB would be ideal.
