Hey,
I'm just starting out with overclocking and I'm having trouble getting a stable overclock for my 4670k. It seems like my CPU is being pretty unpredictable. When I set it to 4.2Ghz and 1.2V, running Intel BurnTest works fine—my PC stays on without rebooting or BSOD. But with Prime95 it crashes or shows BSOD after just a few minutes. Even when I lower the voltage to 1.23 or 1.25V, the issue persists, sometimes for only about five minutes before one of the cores overheats to 91°C. It's confusing—am I really having a bad CPU or should I try something else?

System details:
Gigabyte Z87-hd3
i5 4560k
Crucial Ballistix 2x8GB DDR3 at stock clock
Chieftec 750W PSU
GTX 760
Noctua NH-D14 cooler

many individuals hold varying views on this topic. most stress testing tools generate workloads that you won't encounter often or at all during regular use, yet they remain the most effective method for assessing stability. personally, if it passes IBT then it indicates solid stability. i rely on IBT, Sony Vegas rendering, and 3dmark to evaluate my OC's performance.

Version 29.3, after finishing work I will test with 26.6 and share the results.

But is it truly essential to verify OC using prime95, or can performing IBT for about eight hours be regarded as stable enough?
