4.4ghz 1.2volts 60-65 celcius
After three years of use, I chose to overclock my i5 4690k. I achieved 4.4ghz at 1.2 volts, which matches the specifications. To maximize performance, I increased it to 4.5ghz at 1.26 volts, but the temperature rose to 73°C. I’m curious if pushing further is safe. Would you suggest continuing, and what temperature and voltage should I aim for? I’ve been using Aida64 and cpucore for stress testing, and the highest single-core readings were recorded.
I think 1.35V is the highest you'd want to use. You definitely have some flexibility to go even higher. Typically, 4.7GHz is possible, though it might be a bit higher with a better cooler. Below 80°C is the best range, but that's not a strict limit.
