The adapter doesn’t fit completely no matter how much force is applied. The more you try to push it, the tougher it becomes to remove. It’s unclear what to do since I’m hesitant to force it further.
It might be possible for particles to be lodged in the pins. Inspect for any harm as well.

Located a Reddit discussion about a comparable problem that was resolved using a new Corsair cable, allowing a direct connection from a 2 PCIe device to the GPU via the PSU. The replacement should be delivered tomorrow, and hopefully it will fix the issue. I'll keep you posted and may return the item if it doesn't work, opting for a similar card from Gigabyte instead.
