Xbox One release, graphics aren't my main worry. The game uses AMD Mantle/Frostbite engine, which should render reasonably well on PC given the limited GPU power and how BF4 performed compared to its PC counterpart. I'm hoping developers implement supersampling or downsampling features similar to other recent titles. Overall, the gameplay is decent. Probably not a top pick at launch, but it seems more polished than expected. The cutscenes are largely skipped, leaving me uncertain about the narrative. I’m cautiously optimistic it improves over the previous installment. Character creation is impressive. If I purchase it, I’d aim to design a Bruce Campbell character. I’ve always considered ranged combat uninteresting, so I’m curious to see if melee options are added. Angryjoe’s performance as a YouTuber is entertaining.
On the PC we’re likely to receive code similar to the one from Mass Effect, offering high control over small aspects, though the Shepard face won’t appear because it was a custom scan for the standard version.
This would be quite amusing. I’m hoping for a positive outcome. Mass Effect is the project I’m most concerned about because of Mac Walters’ direction in the new installment. It’s conceivable the deadline was simply too tight and he was pressured. I’m certain there are still skilled individuals at Bioware such as Patrick Weekes. If EA provides them with sufficient time to develop games, and if peer reviews are thorough on all aspects of writing, and they don’t dismiss PC Gamers like Ubisoft does, I’d be pleased. Battlefront, Mass Effect, and Dark Souls are major titles for me. If these games fall short, I’ll be disappointed. However, I won’t hold a grudge forever if things improve. All I need is to see it. To be honest, I almost admire CDPR, but what if they misstep with Witcher 3? It’s inevitable, and I just hope EA has learned from previous errors. Time constraints were likely the main issue.
