Hello! New around here and I'm hopping someone can help! So I have a new build I just put together but I have an issue I don't quite understand. Here is the list of the parts that I think could be causing the issue as all the other components register and work fine. - EVGA 650w SFX power supply - B450 I Aorus Pro WiFi motherboard - Ryzen 3 2200g The motherboard has an 8pin connection for the CPU but when I plug in the full 8 nothing boots and the psu doesn't spin. There is power going thru the board but nothing turns on. When I remove 4 of the 8 pins everything works fine and all systems are go. I'm not an expert so my knowledge as to why this is happening is limited and has me believing it's a faulty component somewhere. Are some CPUs not operational with 8pins? Are half of the 8pin connectors on the motherboard defective? Is it an issue with the power supply? Currently everything works as it should when connected with only 4 pins. The PC boots, runs benchmarks, plays games, identifies all components are functioning properly, and isn't shutting down or throttling. I have no idea what the problem would be when only adding the other 4 pins to the equation. I'm still in my return window for the components I listed and want to know if anyone thinks it's faulty hardware or a user error on my end. Thank you! I'm suspecting the motherboard as well, I just wasn't sure if it may have something to do with the CPU not functioning properly with 8 pins. Since half of the socket on the motherboard works I figured it could be CPU related but I really have no idea.
No issues at all, just using 4-pin connectors and that’s why I’m puzzled. Everything functions perfectly until I connect the full 8-pin and then it stops working.
