Sure, you're right. I've already tried that. If you want to override the memory settings (XMP is for that), just don't do it. The newer G.skill chips have strange brand names, but the older ones used Samsung B-die which actually worked well. They just changed the model without updating the number, which is really disappointing. It makes people like me think manufacturers don’t care about customers.
