Check if the i3 9100f works out of the box with a b365m board. You're thinking about using a budget web browser and pairing it with your old GPU.

All b365 boards are compatible with 9th generation CPUs by default. Most H310 motherboards come with 9th gen support right out of the box, even though many were made later than the release date. They’re also significantly more affordable.

We don’t require a GPU for that; you can rely on the built-in one. A more affordable option would be an Athlon 3000g, offering a superior integrated GPU.

OP already owns an older graphics card, and the 9100F performs significantly better than the 3000G at the same cost.

B365 comes with coffee lake v2 by default, so for that type of task you could simply purchase an older OptiPlex at a low price and it would suffice.

Web browsing requires minimal performance, and an Athlon would fully meet your needs. It also offers a superior GPU and lower power consumption, making the older GPU redundant. These options provide excellent efficiency without unnecessary energy use.

For those who think about upgrades, the 9100f works fine—it's not just for browsing the web... it’s slowly opening him up to gaming. Right now I can use leftover parts like a spare GPU, so all I need to purchase is the CPU and motherboard, which are currently on sale in Australia. This gives me a solid machine for less than what you'd pay for a basic monitor. The differences in power consumption don’t matter much here, since I was mainly checking compatibility and couldn’t find any definitive answers.

He already possesses it. It’s likely too outdated for resale value. A 3000g will become less useful quickly, just like a 9100F eventually. Using the GPU would also cut down on e-waste, and the power usage difference is minimal—this chip will mostly sit idle. Gaming remains an option if he wants to play or needs another PC for LAN events. Yeah, go with the 9100F—it’s a solid choice, delivering performance near 7600k for around $60. Which GPU are we discussing?

950 means it won’t generate much energy even during intense gaming sessions, making it ideal for casual 1080p titles.

You observe your tongue, pal. No one is permitted to mention Intel being helpful anywhere on my boards!
