I begin high school next week and my IED class is using AutoDesk's Inventor software. I looked at AutoDesk’s website and think my computer meets the basic needs for models under 500 parts. I’m curious if anyone has used the program before and can confirm whether it will work on my system, since minimum specs are often higher than what’s needed.

I'm familiar with using Inventor extensively. If you're comfortable sharing, could you tell me your computer's specifications? Usually lowering graphics quality improves performance slightly, though a powerful GPU is essential for smooth operation.

Processor: FX 4300, Graphics: GTX 650, Memory: 8GB at 1333MHz (that’s the concern), and a mediocre ASRock motherboard, not important here

And just to confirm, we'll be referring to the 2015 version of the software.

You're all set with Inventor 2014 on your Lenovo Y410p (GT750m Graphics). It's running smoothly. After completing the Autodesk tutorials, checking out YouTube guides can help you get started quickly. Note: You might need at least 8GB of RAM, but I haven't tried the 2015 version yet. Just test it once installed to confirm.
