I bought the 3950x a year ago. Should I have waited for the 5950x? is it much better?

It’s always feasible to delay another year for better results. Eventually, you’ll want something that fits your needs. Does the 3950X meet your expectations? If yes, it makes a solid choice. However, the 5950X isn’t available yet, so we can’t assess its performance at this time.

I used to run on a 2008 Intel CPU before this, lol. It's actually a solid upgrade. https://www.cpu-monkey.com/en/compare_cp..._3950x-932 Doesn't seem like much of a deal here.

Do you feel the results you're getting are enough? YES: Improve your hardware. NO: Nothing to change. Honestly, if it's working fine, leave it alone.

Yes, then you should hold off on the 6950x—it looks better than the 5950x. Oh, right, maybe wait a little longer for the 7950x... Your query seems more personal than anyone else here. @dizmo reflects your thoughts.
