you’ll need to prepare your system before swapping. since the ryzen 7 2700x is a higher-end model, you may need to flash the bios or update it to ensure compatibility with your motherboard. also, check if your existing components can support the new chipset and power delivery requirements.

It should function properly. Would you prefer a 3600 instead? It performs better in most cases.

You're likely mistaken. CPU support builds up over time, and the 3XXXG matches the 2XXX line regardless. You don't have to guess—visit MSI's site, look up your model's product page, and find the supported CPUs. The listing will show which ones work and the BIOS version needed. Keep in mind that most chipsets debuted with 2000 series CPUs, so they're included. The label on the box indicates the BIOS now supports the 3000 series as well. Just verify on MSI's site to confirm 8-core support exists; doubt it.

It should work out of the box. You wouldn't be surprised by limited overclocking options with the MSI B450M PRO-VDH MAX.

It's a solid mobile game that can reach its full potential with a 2700x resolution.

It wouldn't happen at all without targeted cooling for the VRMs.

since i don’t have that amount of cash, i’m aiming for a solid upgrade before getting the 3600. likely i’ll go with a better motherboard next.
