I was thinking about purchasing a Ryzen 5 2600 instead of the non-X model, but the Ryzen 3 is now available. Should the 3300X be the better choice? You're also considering pairing it with a GTX 1660.

Playing purely for fun on the 3300X with 3600mhz CL16 RAM could give a slight boost of around 10% in optimal situations. However, are you located in the US? Since the RX 5700 offers similar performance at a lower price, it might be a more practical choice.

It varies; some prefer the 2600 while others find other options more suitable depending on requirements.

I’d pick the 3300X since I believe the single-core speed will be stronger.

My budget is near $450. The 3300X is a 6-core processor, while the 3300X also offers a quad-core option, but it runs faster. Since you mainly plan to use it for gaming, I recommend going with the faster one.

The 3300X would perform about 20% better. I think it might just lag 5-10% less when using multiple threads.
