Hey there, I'm about to set up my new PC and only have RAM and CPU left to choose between. I'm considering the Ryzen 7 5800X or the Ryzen 9 5900X. I'm still unsure which one is better, but I've read that the 3600MHz model costs around $50 more than the other. Meanwhile, the Royal versions seem similar in price to the Trident Z models in my area. Ultimately, I went with them for a total of about $10. I'm wondering if the performance boost justifies the extra cost. Thanks for your advice! Also, the mainboard will be an Asus ROG Strix X570-E and the RTX 3070 OC V2 (LHR) if needed.

The difference in performance will be roughly 5%, varying with the workload. If your investment exceeds $1000, the quicker options offer better value.

Looking at 3600MHz and 3200MHz CL16 models, the 3600MHz offers higher speed while maintaining identical latency, making it superior overall. Typically, RAM at 3600MHz is CL18 based on data from 3200MHz CL16.

It actually performs better with reduced delay. Delay is measured in clock cycles. Each cycle at a faster speed completes quicker. CL16 @ 3200 MHz = 10 ns. CL16 @ 3600 MHz = 8.88 ns.
