Consider checking RAM with lower or higher latency. It's worth noting whether 16 and 17 CL really impact performance at 3600MHz.

It doesn't really matter much, as a 1ns difference counts. However, in general, to reach speeds above 3600Mhz you'll need CL16 or lower. If you can afford it, opt for a 3200Mhz CL16 setup instead.

Starting with a CL17 would definitely change things compared to CL16. The specs for some CL16 kits seem quite advanced, like CL16-19-19-39 and CL16-16-16-36, which suggest higher performance components.

It also relies on the CPU model you're using, since Intel and AMD handle higher performance memory differently. I remember HardwareCanucks posted a helpful video about this for AMD systems a while back, so if you're on that setup, check it out to see if the lower latency makes sense for you.

I own a Ryzen 5 3600 and plan to watch that video now.

It's been a while since I checked that video, but I remember it generally said games don't really change much after CL18, though a few tasks might gain some benefit
