3060ti with pigtail PCIe slot on the power supply unit
Hello, I recently upgraded from a 2060 super to a 3060ti. I originally had a custom build PC so this was my first major change since I got it. When I was switching out the graphics card, I found out I have a non-modular PSU and I have a pci-e cable (6+2) that appears to pigtail into a second one (I’ve heard this term may be the more accurate one rather than daisy chain). Just wondering everyone’s personal opinions on this. I’ve kinda heard a mix bag about it with most saying it’s fine, since it was intended design by the psu company (mine is an evga 600gd 80gold so from what I understand pretty solid card) (Image of cable included, not the best but currently everything is in the case running lol)
Yeah, it's fine. The card is only pulling 200ish watts, and the power supply was obviously designed that way, and it's not a garbage unit, so it's fine. No concerns about the wires being too thin. However, I do have potential concerns about the transient loads, but I guess we'll see how the power supply handles the card in that respect.
