I purchased two Corsair 16GB DDR4 3600MHz CL18 RGB RT modules and an ASUS ROG STRIX B550-F gaming PC that supports dual-channel memory. I'm wondering what DRAM capacity—whether 2x, 4x, or more—is best for a motherboard with dual-channel support. Since the board has four DRAM slots, I'm concerned about whether this configuration is ideal.
All contemporary ATX systems typically include at least four expansion slots.
The design focuses on simplicity with just two Dimm slots, reducing components and potential issues. Allocating two slots for the memory controller makes it simpler to reach higher clock speeds, such as those found in DDR4 5000MHz boards, compared to a board with four slots but only two active ones.
