Friends, his PC currently has a 2600 and he’s experiencing low FPS, so an upgrade would definitely help. That sounds like a solid improvement.

I wouldn't do it if I were you. I suggest no more than 4 cores on that motherboard. Still, you can experiment with undervolting the CPU to boost your chances.

The 2600 can manage nearly anything. Is he certain the low FPS is due to the CPU? Which other specifications matter most? What FPS is considered low and in which game?

He mentions struggling across every match, mainly because he just installed a 240Hz monitor and is trying to play games at that speed. His system includes a 2600 and a GTX 1080, and temperatures are normal. He’s achieving around 180fps in low 1080p during CS:GO.

Upgrading to 2700 won't impact gaming performance. A 3600 would be necessary for a notable (20%) boost. I'd start by troubleshooting, as the 2600 might handle 200fps in CS:GO.

Seek 3rd generation or Intel's unlocked CPUs with six or more cores for even better frame rates. Adding more slow cores won't improve performance. The RAM speed is probably another problem.

You need strong performance with Zen, aiming for high FPS. At least 3466 ratings are required, especially if you're targeting lower frequency and tighter timing setups.
