You're looking at upgrading from an AMD Ryzen 5 1500X to an R5 2600X. It's possible to use the older CPU with your current motherboard, but make sure it supports the newer processor. As for updating your BIOS, do it when you're ready—typically after installing the new CPU and before rebooting. Since you're on a budget, consider checking if your motherboard supports the upgrade without buying a new one.

Ensure your BIOS is up to date for the motherboard to function properly with the 2600X. Also, check if your RAM meets the required specifications to fully utilize the CPU's capabilities.

Review the updated information and verify the required minimum specifications. I notice version 1G is sufficient for the 2600x, so check your BIOS settings and upgrade if necessary. If you don’t have a newer BIOS, update to at least that release. Avoid installing the latest beta versions—they’re unstable for this model. Also, ensure your chipset drivers meet the minimum requirements; download the latest from AMD.com and install them accordingly.

I received 2*8*2666 and require the 2600x resolution for the upcoming battlefield game. The current 4-core setup isn’t sufficient anymore.

Yes, you're correct. It's simply about changing the CPU model.

Sure, just swap out the CPUs and add fresh thermal paste while cleaning the CPU cooler.
