2500k and Nvidia surround sound setup?
Set up for gaming with a surround sound system and a top-mounted monitor for streaming platforms like Steam, Curse, YouTube, console play, and live streams. I’m planning to upgrade to Skylake soon but wanted advice on whether to switch first or stick with my current quad setup. I’m aiming for high-ultra performance and want to ensure my 2500k processor with a Master 212 Evo SSD, 250 EVO M.BiS, and ASUS P8P67 works well. I’m looking for recommendations since I haven’t found a monitor under $200 yet. I hope eventually I’ll have a single 1440p monitor, but that’s about six months away. Let me know your thoughts!
Your setup aims for three 1080p displays and a total of four 1440p or higher monitors. The CPU isn't the limiting factor—it's the GPU. A 980Ti should comfortably handle three 1080p monitors, while the fourth could act as a secondary display or something similar. Going beyond 1080p will require additional 980Tis, but even with three 1080p units, you won't be able to push all games at full resolution on a single 980Ti.
Triple 1080p requires 25% less power than 4k, the 980ti can handle any current game at 1080p, but at 1440p it becomes a bit more challenging.
I understand the need for clarity. I'm setting up a triple 1080 resolution with a single 1080p display, using four monitors. For gaming, only the lower third will have surround sound.
