It seems the bottleneck has shifted to the GPU. I moved from a 3600 to a 5600X, but it didn’t noticeably affect gameplay since most titles ran smoothly at 1080 on my 2070Super with medium-high settings. Now I’m upgrading to a 3080, and it’s making a big difference—high and ultra settings average around 1440. I wonder if using a 3080 on my older 3600 would have been pointless.
