I've experienced my 2020 Legion 5-15ARH05H suddenly throttling the CPU aggressively during full workloads. It's running an AMD 4800H with an RTX 2060, 16GB RAM, and I'm using Windows 11 version 22621.3085 with the newest drivers and BIOS updates. During a session of Overwatch 2, I noticed a brief FPS drop followed by a spike in CPU usage. The biggest issue is the sudden throttling when temperatures exceed around 108°C. I've cleaned and reconditioned the cooling system twice already. What I found odd was a discoloration on the CPU die that didn't seem to come off easily—could be burnt paste, oxide, or something else? Any advice from fellow Legion 5 users would be greatly appreciated, as well as insights from someone more experienced with power management and thermal issues.

They include a three-year guarantee. If things go wrong, I’d reach out to Lenovo support to resolve the issue.

I had just two years there. The laptop is performing really well, so I wouldn’t complain about the Lenovo.

Ah, I understand. They work well when you have a warranty. Fixing them on your own is tough. Some laptops use a putty inside that hardens when warmed, giving a precise pad thickness. It could be wise to call them, as they might send the right parts for cooling pads and paste.
