Running a budget build from 2018 with plans for an upgrade in 2020.
Current configuration: i5 7600k (not overclocked), GTX970, H110m-a motherboard.
Upgrade ideas considered: ryanze 5 3600, GTX1660s, B450 motherboard.
Uncertainty about replacing the i5 7600k; unsure if it’s necessary given budget limits.
New components are being discussed but may be out of reach financially.
Any advice would be appreciated.

You could try the 1660S model first and check if it enhances your gaming setup. The i5-7600K remains quite powerful for that card and should offer significant gains across most resolutions. If you require additional threads, swapping the 4c/4t CPU for the i7-7700/7700K might be a viable alternative.
