I'm planning to set up a gaming rig by late November. Initially, I'll install a 16GB DDR4 3200 MHz RAM. I'm curious if it's better to upgrade to 32GB later—should I use four 8GB sticks or two 16GB sticks? Also, adding another 8GB stick to reach 24GB would I still get good performance at 3200 MHz?

They often suggest waiting until later, but many forget and just want more. I upgraded from 8GB to 32GB in 2016, which made a big difference. If you need speed for a one-time build, get the 4x8. For planning a next-gen upgrade, choose two 16GB units.

This allows for additional 2x16 units later, while a 4x8 setup leaves you without options when you need to upgrade.

On a Ryzen setup, using two slots provides the best performance. Filling all slots can reduce memory speed.
