Hey there, tech enthusiasts! I'm looking to upgrade my Lenovo Ideapad 520. My current setup has a 12GB dual-channel DDR4 RAM at 2133MHz, and I need a 16GB RAM stick for the second slot. The challenge is that my country doesn’t have 16GB 2133MHz modules available, and my motherboard already has a fixed 4GB RAM. Can I fit a 16GB module—preferably 2400MHz or 2666MHz—with my existing 4GB RAM?

Consider using a second 4GB stick with matching serial numbers to the ones already installed. A 16GB drive probably won’t add much beyond that. The challenge comes from the laptop design—it behaves differently. Checking a QVL for your specific model and selecting the exact memory is recommended. It’s unlikely you’ll reach 20GB, but you might get around 16GB in single-channel mode. Laptop manufacturers often have quirks. The outcome really depends on their specifications.
