1660ti and low FPS in Apex are unable to determine the cause
Hey everyone!
On my previous system, I had a Ryzen 5 2600 and an RX570 with 4GB RAM. Previously, I achieved around 60-80 fps in Apex using the lowest settings. After switching to a 1660ti OC and reinstalling Apex, even at the lowest settings, my average dropped to about 30 fps, which was quite shaky. When I look far away, it falls to 20fps, and when facing a wall, it jumps up to 150s.
My GPU drivers are up to date, the game is freshly installed, I’ve adjusted everything in-game, and the NVIDIA control panel is set to prioritize performance. My GPU stays around 40 degrees while my CPU runs at about 60, which suggests thermal issues aren’t the cause. My rig has solid cooling and a good power supply.
For comparison, with the new GPU I’m getting roughly 80-90 fps in Codemw beta, with everything maximized and motion blur off. I’m also seeing 100+ fps with BF4 fully enabled, among other improvements.
I’m suspecting Apex might have a bug since I can’t think of any other issues on my end. I’m sharing this as a community post in case someone notices something similar.
PC specs:
Ryzen 5 2600
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1660 Ti OC
16GB DDR4 RAM (correctly connected)
Cut down the drawing range. This might cause a CPU slowdown, and very long distances put extra strain on the CPU.
In games such as Minecraft, it can mean the difference between smooth 300 FPS and sluggish 30 FPS.
