Based on the information, 3100 appears stronger overall, though 1600 offers two extra cores that could improve performance for 1080p gaming and other light tasks.

I don't prefer the 3100 because it has two CCX units—it might run faster during games, but I think more cores over the long term could be advantageous.

The reasoning applies here, but in this situation the 1600af scores lower on IMC and IPC. Plus, its FUP performance is significantly worse than the 3100 model.
