I don't prefer the 3100 because it has two CCX units—it might run faster during games, but I think more cores over the long term could be advantageous.

The reasoning applies here, but in this situation the 1600af scores lower on IMC and IPC. Plus, its FUP performance is significantly worse than the 3100 model.

Over time, adding more cores tends to be advantageous. For gaming, the 3100 might offer a higher clock speed.
