Hello, I recently installed an i5 13600KF system with a ROG Strix B760-F motherboard and encountered an issue with CPU temperature. It reaches 100°C almost instantly during thermal throttling in CineBench. I believe my cooler (Cooler Master MasterLiquid PL240 FLUX) is sufficient since temperatures drop back to normal quickly once the test stops. Many users have shared similar experiences with various cooling setups. I attempted undervolting in BIOS using specific settings: - DIGI+ VRM → CPU load line calibration at level 4 (also tried 5) - Actual VRM core voltage → offset mode, with a CPU core voltage offset of 0.11 (tried 0.10 and 0.135). Unfortunately, the effect was minimal; the voltage still climbed to 1.305V and above, causing temperatures to hit 100°C. Running in manual mode at 1.27 instead of offset mode reduced temperatures significantly but led to a substantial performance drop (Cinebench rating fell from 23K to 12-13K). Would you consider undervolting with Intel XTU tool instead of BIOS? It’s frustrating having to adjust settings just to keep temperatures manageable. I hope Asus and/or Intel address this issue in the future.

Reducing voltages is the main method to cut temperatures on the 13600KF, aside from using a superior cooler. My setup has a Nhd-15 and it will still slow down under lower voltages...

I think a 240mm unit, regardless of type, usually falls into the ‘adequate’ range for a 250w CPU rather than ‘good.’ Running performance tests will quickly reveal your true limits. For best results, I’d suggest opting for at least a 360mm model, especially if you want peak performance.

It seems my B760 board is causing a significant performance drop even after undervolting. I'm unsure if the issue is mine or if I'm missing a guide. Several people mentioned that B660 boards have the same problem, while Z790 looks fine. Changing my motherboard isn't an option. I chose B760 because I didn't want to overclock the CPU, but now I realize I might have overlooked something.

My cooler is rated for 125W TDP and 180W in turbo boost. My aim isn’t just peak speed but ensuring it handles gaming well. I noticed a max temperature of 88°C after a regular gaming session. Do you think it’s normal to hit 100°C quickly and then throttle while running CPU-heavy tasks? Many people say that shouldn’t happen.

If you can adjust the manual voltage, 1.1v is what most people maintain stable at. I used 1.15 because I stopped testing and the temperature was around the 70s with a 240aio after a 10-minute cycle. I know some boards won’t tolerate more than 0.05v, so don’t assume it’s safe for your setup either.
