You're asking about finding a way to get 12V power on a laptop's mainboard. It seems you've already checked the SATA port and it doesn't work. Let me know if you'd like help exploring other options or solutions.

Securely connect a secondary screen and use it for the water pump, eliminating the need to upgrade from USB (5V).

I prefer not to use a laptop. They're built for high power and lack much extra capacity. If you're not cautious, you might end up wasting them like a paperweight.

The laptop I’m building already features a powerful CPU, a boosted GPU, a tailored battery holding 150WH, and specialized cooling for both the CPU and GPU. I also possess a faulty LAPTOP, so I can source components if needed—thank you for the heads-up!

Check the battery and charger IC using a multimeter.

No laptop component needs 12V, making it improbable unless the battery provides that voltage.

@Kilrah, next I'll switch to a step-up converter.
