12th gen temps release and voltage adjustment.
Hello, your PC (i7 12700k) worked fine until recently. When you opened Unreal Engine and checked the HWinfo, it showed thermal throttling even though temperatures and clock speeds were normal (5GHz P cores, 3.8GHz E cores). I also attempted to lower the voltage, but it caused problems. I haven’t tried undervolting before and didn’t find any guides for Gigabyte boards. Can someone assist with this? I’m a bit unsure about the process.
Start with the basics—don’t rely on EasyTune, as it’s not reliable for overclocking. If you’re working within the operating system, use Intel XTU or another robust motherboard utility. I prefer configuring it through XTU or similar software so you avoid frequent reboots to adjust voltage settings. This approach is common across different vendors.
The typical method involves reducing the core voltage offset by 10mV, letting the system stabilize for 1–2 minutes, and repeating until it becomes unstable. Continue this process until it crashes within that window. Return to the last stable setting and perform a thorough stress test—ideally lasting at least an hour, preferably two hours for safety. If it fails, increment the offset by 10mV and retry.
Since I don’t have a Gigabyte Z690 board, I can’t pinpoint the exact location of that voltage adjustment, but it’s usually found in the overclocking menu under voltage mode.
I'll give it a shot with XTU and the stripped-down version of the simple track. Appreciate the support!
