The 4-pin unit serves the same role as RGB, but it's purely for appearance. It doesn't offer any real benefits. Companies add it for marketing reasons. Plug it in if you like the look, but don't anticipate any practical advantages.

You're likely correct, but I purchased a new PSU with an additional 4-pin cable just in case. The old one was already outdated...
