10gbit interface for Windows/Proxmox setup
I'm using a 10GbE connection at home with four standard RJ45 ports and twelve SFP+ ports on a Unifi XG16 switch. Currently I have two ASUS networking cards—one connected via Cat 6e and the other linked to the server rack with an SFP+ DAC cable. Everything seems to be working fine. However, I notice there are many used cards labeled for 10GbE networking. Are there any good options available? I'm considering Chelsio, but I need a card that supports both Windows drivers and works in Proxmox environments. Right now I require a dual 10GbE solution for a VM server running FreeNAS in a Proxmox setup, as the single 1GbE connection isn't sufficient given my disk arrays handle full 10GbE capacity.
I haven't praised Proxmox, but I've used Chelsios foin on both Windows and FreeNAS with good results. I'm looking for the exact model later. Edit: couldn't locate a picture, will update when I'm back. Still, I can share that I also tried a Fujitsu Emulex OCe14102—it didn't work well in Windows but functioned okay in FreeNAS.
It functions properly; Proxmox is merely a minimal Debian-based system with all necessary packages included.
