Looking for a 10G PCI NIC suited for a Poweredge R620 with ESXi? I’m considering an RJ45 setup, ideally two units. The Newegg link you shared looks promising. Let me know if you need more options!

Dell part P71JP is a dual Gigabit, dual 10GBASE-T mezzanine card built on Intel X540, priced below $25 for shipping on eBay in the US. It can swap in for your existing mezzanine NIC—likely quad or dual Gigabit with two SFP+ ports. These older server components are affordable! Keep your PCIe slots free.

Unfortunately, they’re losing much of this space. Also, most Intel solutions run on VMware’s HAL. A significant portion of Broadcom-related components didn’t...#sarcasm

It seems the hardware should fit a 13th generation PowerEdge. Chipsets like Intel X540 or X570 work well. For higher speeds, 40 gigabits is achievable with Mellanox ConnectX-3 cards.

Approximately 10g is acceptable. The limit is 25g, but that would require an SFP+ connection. I’d like to stay with 10g and ensure my switch remains SFP-free. I’ll look into it.

I was planning to stay with Intel since I trust its reliability and performance. Avoiding any hidden issues from third-party sellers is important to me.
