10900K at 5.5GHz – Delid or not?
10900K at 5.5GHz – Delid or not?
What do you think about this setup? Here are my findings: 5.1GHZ without Avx, 5.5Ghz with 5 cores, 5.4GHZ at 6 cores, 1.375V on LLC with 6 cache at 4.7GHz XMPII. The machine boots and runs Cinebench at 5.2GHz without any AVX offset, but it instantly reaches 100. Should we upgrade to 5.2GHz for better performance?
The IHS is already attached to the die, making the separation a lengthy task with limited advantage. Perhaps improved cooling or adding thermal paste between the cooler and the IHS would be more effective.
You noticed similar results but after watching der8auer he achieved an 11-degree drop during shutdown. The peak stable was 5.1Ghz with no AVX offset. Thanks everyone, I’m thinking I’ll keep it as is. Since I’m only using an AIO, a complete custom water loop could help lower temperatures without losing performance.
It looks like a trend where higher numbers indicate better overclocking performance. It's unusual to find such high voltages per core, though, and it might affect stability. Could be worth double-checking the specs.
I considered returning it when I first received it, but the video quality matches what I expect from stock settings. Regarding wear and tear, I plan to replace this CPU in about five years, long before any noticeable issues arise.
