if you tweak the game settings a bit, you might achieve 30 fps at 4k. i'm using a 2 gtx970 in sli, and currently getting 45-60 fps in most games with high and ultra enabled, shadows off, and tessellation reduced.

The current GPUs aren't completely prepared for 4K yet; it might take a few more years before they can handle it. The reason is that they're sufficient for most modern games at 4K resolution.
