Storydiver:
if you mess around with the game settings, you could hit 30 fps with 4k. I'm using a 2 GTX 970 in SLI, and I'm getting about 45-60 fps in most games at 4k with high and ultra enabled, AA off, shadows and tessellation reduced. Tessellation?
the available gpus aren't fully prepared for 4k, it might take a few years before we reach that level
The current GPUs aren't completely prepared for 4K yet; it might take a few more years before they can handle it. The reason is that they're sufficient for most modern games at 4K resolution.
