I secured a gig pro position in 2017. My current setup includes a Rampage VI E and a Crosshair VIII Dark hero with a 5950x. The ASUS XG-C100C card is performing exceptionally well. It’s currently under RMA. When I power on the machine, I notice slight lag during gameplay. I tried running speed tests while playing to see if performance dropped, but the test would freeze and required a Windows 10 troubleshooting step to restore functionality. Here’s my issue flow: 1. Start PC 2. Play games (slow) 3. Conduct speed test until disconnected 4. Perform network troubleshooter after resetting card The error message appears when I restart the device. After that, I run a speed test while streaming a video via Comcast’s tool or Speedtest.net. 5. After resetting the card, the network issue disappears and I’m back online. I also have another machine with Rampage VI Extreme for 10G Marvel; it’s facing the same problem. The Device Manager on the R6E shows a network controller issue. I’m unsure when this started but suspect it’s related to something else. I’ve already contacted ASUS, but they’re unresponsive. They provided a solution. Are you attempting to upgrade drivers or firmware? What error appears? Why are you recommending a LAN card? The ROG Crossair VIII Dark Hero motherboard includes an integrated Gigabit LAN device—can’t support two controllers. I’m confused about the technical details. When I installed the C100C, I connected it directly to an PCI x8 slot, downloaded firmware and updates, but no issues were reported. Now I’m adding another card, which complicates things. This is frustrating. I’m not sure if the speed is actually the problem or the connection is faulty. I’ve dealt with this for about five years. I need support to resolve the installation quirks.

It really is a lot of PCIe cards, but the main thing is what your motherboard can handle. Network adapters don’t differ much from other PCIe devices. You could connect one to any USB port if you prefer, though it’s not ideal.

Yeah this is a little frustrating. There is a forum post at the asus website. They still use these marvel cards with their new boards. If they are not using 10g base T they don't show a problem. The firmware is available through the marvel website but with nothing on asus website. The c100c that I sent in for rma is from 2017 they pretty much stopped supporting it. Marvel bought out the AQN company so their updates are on their website. No solution in sight. I am learning here so the R6E needs two things. The driver needs to be updated to something higher than 3.1.6 and the Firmware is stuck at 1.5.58 and it needs to get off of this because anything lower than 3.1.121 is laggy. The C100C that I have I had to RMA the same things are at play here. Asus only has a driver 2.2.2.0 and a firmware of 3.1.88. I need to get something higher on both. 2.2.3.0 driver and 3.1.121 off marvel website. 3.1.121a is the only available firmware on marvel website. All this explains so much too.
